The View celebrates prosperous 1st year at Royal College of Surgeons of England

Central London event and conference venue, The View has announced a successful year as it marked its first birthday.

The venue, at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, is managed and marketed by Searcys, one of the oldest hospitality companies in the UK - read our FS News interview with the MD of Searcy in Q&As (homepage right hand column). The View has gone from strength to strength, with an expected revenue projection of £2m by the end of 2022 in its first year.

Hosting events, conferences and meetings, as well as private celebrations and weddings, the venue has seen a huge boost in bookings since opening, with 75% of bookings being for full-day conferences and drink receptions.

Across its spaces, the Searcys team hosted 304 events with over 7,610 attendees, served 49,200 cups of coffee and poured 3,150 glasses of champagne. Searcys Executive Chef at The View, Nick Seckington, has introduced fully plant-based menus, from morning breakfast to canapes, which have proved extremely popular.

As well as exceptional trading, the venue is continuing to develop its offering for event organisers and attendees. These include wine tasting experiences and options to tailor the spaces with company or event branding for corporate gatherings.

Andrew Reed, Chief Executive of The Royal College of Surgeons of England, noted, “The opening of The View was an ambitious project, and I would like to thank every member of the team for their hard work and dedication over the past year. We always envisaged that the venue would become a home-from-home for our members and offer warm hospitality for external events.

'Both these objectives have been achieved. It is very encouraging to see such a positive response from our event organisers, many of whom we have welcomed on multiple occasions.

'Working with our hospitality partner Searcys, The View has delivered some outstanding events, from conferences to parties and drinks receptions. After a tough few years for events, it is wonderful to see a boom in face-to-face meetings again and we have high hopes for the future as we head into our second year.”

Boasting views of the city, a rooftop terrace and four elegant and versatile rooms, The View blends history with modern, sustainable spaces and outstanding seasonal British food from the UK’s longest established events caterer and restaurateur, Searcys.
