Limor and Amir Chen, the founders of Delamina (Marylebone) and Delamina East (Shoreditch), have revealed plans for their third restaurant, Delamina Townhouse, set to open on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Covent Garden.
Limor Chen, the creative visionary behind the restaurants' distinctive cuisine, recently released her debut cookbook My Tel Aviv Table. Her culinary style is inspired by her diverse heritage, offering a menu that blends vibrant Eastern Mediterranean flavors with a health-focused approach. The dishes emphasise grilling and roasting, enhanced by the fragrant herbs and spices native to the region.
The Chens' current restaurants enjoy a devoted following, and the Covent Garden location will feature a mix of their signature dishes alongside fresh, innovative creations. Guests can enjoy an à la carte menu for both lunch and dinner, as well as the beloved Eastern Mediterranean-style brunch on weekends. Additionally, a special pre- and post-theatre menu will be offered.
Delamina's must-try classic dishes will include favorites such as Charred cauliflower with lemon-infused crème fraîche, pomegranate molasses, and seeds; Beef shawarma with dates, pine kernels, and a salad of house pickles, vegetables, herbs, and tahini; and their wildly popular Kadayif nest, filled with vanilla cheesecake cream, caramelized pecans, and a citrusy orange peel reduction.
These classic dishes will be complemented by exciting new additions, such as Arak-cured sea trout with mixed herbs and foamed labneh; Za’atar-marinated seafood grilled on the plancha, served with golden beetroot aioli; Herby venison koftas on skewers with pistachio cream and barberries; and a decadent parfait of candied macadamia nuts, Irish cream, and rose petals.
The menu will be paired with a curated drinks list, featuring distinctive small-batch wines from across the Mediterranean, as well as house cocktails infused with the same aromatic ingredients used in the kitchen, offering a seamless blend of flavors from plate to glass.
The restaurant is housed in a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse, where Limor and Amir have carefully preserved the building's original layout and period features, while incorporating elements that reflect their love for light and texture. Soft furnishings, neutral tones, and an abundance of natural light combine to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The space seats 110 guests across several dining areas, including a spacious dining bar, two drawing rooms with fireplaces, multiple private dining rooms, and a small outdoor terrace. As chef-patron and a seasoned artist, Limor has also created site-specific artworks for the restaurant, seamlessly blending her pieces into the surroundings. Her art enhances the overall aesthetic, adding depth and a personal touch to the dining experience.
Amir Chen said: “Limor and I have been searching for several years for the perfect site that will allow us to develop a further expression of the Delamina cooking style and hospitality. When we came across this beautiful townhouse in Covent Garden it was love at first site; the light-filled interiors, period features and, of course, the central location, immediately appealed to us and naming it Delamina Townhouse was a natural impulse. We can’t wait to bring our cuisine to this vibrant part of London, with its eclectic mix of local residents, businesses, tourists and theatre goers. We’ve loved developing the menu and space of this new sister to our restaurant family, bringing exciting dishes alongside all-time favourites in a beautifully designed environment.”
