Anchor to recruit 150 staff for care homes

Anchor is to hold open days in order to recruit 150 staff for the 18 care homes it operates in Surrey.

The care home group addressing the shortfall of the estimated 718,000 carers needed by 2025 to meet the demands of the country’s ageing population. An unprecedented number of men are needed to bridge the gap.

Last month, Anchor launched a care home apprenticeship scheme to mark Care Home Open Day. The first apprentices to join Anchor will work at Tandy Court, Cranlea, Greenhive, Norton House, Teal Beck House and Heather Vale care homes.

Anchor has over 100 care homes across the UK, with three new homes in development that are set to open this year and one in 2016. The firm also operates a retirement village with two further villages in development that will open this autumn.

The latest venue is Buckingham Lodge, a 64 room care home in Aylesbury which opened in April. Facilities include a cafe, craft area, hair and beauty salon, library and themed activity areas.
