Charles Wells & Yummy Pub Co collaborate on fourth pub

Bedfordshire brewer and pub group, Charles Wells has extended its partnership with Yummy Pub Co. as the Yummy team take on the lease for The Daniel Defoe pub in London’s Stoke Newington.

The pub is Yummy’s sixth site, and its fourth with Charles Wells; this newest lease agreement follows successful collaborative developments at The Somers Town Coffee House in Euston, The Gorringe Park in Tooting and The Victoria in Mile End.

The Daniel Defoe will be following in the footsteps of the others, getting a signature Yummy makeover. First up is a name change to reflect the new era for the pub which will now be called The Stoke Newington Tea House, reflecting the link to sister pub The Somers Town Coffee House and signifying that this is no ordinary pub!

The Daniel Defoe current buildingThis is the first high street site for Yummy and they have big plans in store. Food wise the pub will be offering their popular British main and Tapas menu with a twist. In addition to a range of Charles Wells beers, the teams will also be offering 100 different loose leaf teas from around the world served morning noon and night alongside a tea cocktail menu. Top end coffee will also be available and they’ll be developing a retail space too.

To make way for these plans, Charles Wells and Yummy will be giving the three-story building a complete makeover and the teams are now finalising their revolutionary plans with the pub look set to open at the end of the year.

Richard Bishop, Head of Retail Development at Charles Wells said, “We’ve developed a fantastic working relationship with Tim, Anthony, Jason and the whole Yummy team and we’re all excited to be working on what looks set to be another completely unique city pub. There are some phenomenal ideas in the mix for The Stoke Newington Tea House and by working together openly, sharing ideas and bringing in learnings from our previous developments we’re looking forward to supporting the team in giving the pub a new lease of life and developing another thriving business together.”
