John Lewis plans three new department stores

John Lewis is planning a £37m department store in the Victoria Gate area of Leeds in the autumn 2016, and also new stores in Westfield London and Oxford in 2017.

Also, the firm is planning to open a new flexible format shop in Chelmsford in 2016. This format sits between the full size department stores and the 'at home' shops averaging between 65,000 to 100,000 sq ft.

The company is the anchor tenant of the new £150m Grand Central retail development in Birmingham, with a just-opened £35m department store.
