West Berkshire Brewery crowdfunds for £1.5m to expand

West Berkshire Brewery is looking to raise £1.5m for the expansion of its Yattendon-based ales business, including a larger brewery and visitor centre.

The independent company, which was formed in 1995, is raising new equity via crowdfunding site Seedrs to develop the new state-of-the-art brewery, complete with packaging facility, that will produce 7,000 bottles per hour, and also to purchase a pub.

The brewery has outgrown its current home and has found the perfect place, just metres from where it is now, to build the new site which will enable it to continue to brew traditional real ales and craft beers.

The firm is situated in Yattendon, Berkshire from where it produces a range of bottled, kegged and cask-conditioned beers and lagers for which over 40 awards have been won, including Champion Strong Beer of Britain.

Sales in the year to March 2015 were up 23% on the previous year, and at the current rate of growth, the directors believe the brewery will reach its production and storage capacity within two years.
