JKS Restaurants to open Motu Indian Kitchen this month

JKS Restaurants, operated by the Sethi family behind Michelin-starred Gymkhana and Trishna and the award-winning Hoppers, is to launch Motu Indian Kitchen on 17 October.

Motu, a name derived from the affectionate Hindi term for 'Fat Man', will be a delivery service serving unashamedly indulgent home style Indian food paying homage to the British love of a classic Indian takeaway, as well as the 'dabbawalas' of India who would traditionally deliver a packed meal for workers across Indian cities in what became known as a tiffin.

In a modern interpretation of this, Motu will serve 'Feast Boxes', containing one classic Indian curry, biryani or mixed grill and a selection of fixed sides and condiments.

Main dishes will be classically spiced and will include: Kashmiri Mutton Shank Roganjosh; Bonemarrow Methi Goat Keema; LKO Chicken Korma; Pork Spare Rib Vindaloo; Chicken Tikka Masala; Madras Prawn Masala; Paneer Butter Masala; A Tandoori Mixed Grill and Lamb or Chicken Biryani.

The fixed accompaniments will consist of Saag Aloo, Samosa Chaat, Tadka Dal, Cucumber Raita; Pappadums; Mango Chutney, Naan; Pilau and the Indian dessert Rasmalai.

Later this autumn, two weekend feast specials will also be introduced to the menu including Raan – a slow roasted masala lamb leg, and Whole Tandoori Chicken.

A concise drinks menu will focus on two classic Indian beers, Cobra Beer and the larger 8% King Cobra. While the two soft options will include Indian produced popular cola brand ThumsUp and Indian lemonade brand Limca.

Based in Battersea, Motu will initially serve the area around south west London including Fulham, Clapham, Chelsea, Wandsworth, Putney and Battersea, and will be delivered to doors via a partnership with the popular delivery service, Deliveroo. Each take away will come in a branded Motu box, with the main and accompaniments stacked within.

Speaking of the launch, Karam Sethi commented, “The dishes Motu will offer are a nod to the much loved classic British Indian takeaway dishes, delivering the same quality of food you’d expect if you were dining in a restaurant.”

Dan Warne UK & IE Managing Director at Deliveroo, said, 'Motu's launch creates the perfect Indian summer for Londoners, giving Deliveroo customers the opportunity to enjoy world class Indian food in their own homes. JKS already has a brilliant portfolio of restaurants and customers are going to love the addition of Motu and its designed-for-delivery menu.'

Motu will be available to order from October via www.motuindiankitchen.com, and will be delivered to addresses in the Fulham, Clapham, Chelsea, Wandsworth, Putney and Battersea areas through Deliveroo.
