Bear to open second coffee shop-bar today

The all-day coffee shop-cum-bar brand, Bear is opening its second site in Derby's Cathedral Quarter today.

Serving up sustainably sourced speciality coffee, and seasonal fresh food, like the Uttoxeter sister site, Bear Derby will double up as a bar in the evening offering wine and craft beer, and a cocktail list, which includes its signature Espresso Martini.

Dishes start with breakfast with bacon brioche rolls, smashed avocado on sourdough, yoghurt with chia honey, granola, and quinoa & oat porridge. Brunch includes eggs florentine, and pancakes with eggs, sausage & maple syrup.

The lunch menu has a range of sandwiches, burgers, soft tacos, flatbreads, and salads. Through to the evening, Bear serves up small plates like Korean Wings and Baja Fish Tacos, and a selection of burgers and salads, plus flatbreads and pizza.

The site, that had sat empty for nine years and was previously a bank, has been transformed by co-founders Craig Bunting and Michael Thorley. The pair launched the brand in November 2014 and opened their first bricks and mortar site in January 2016.
