Radici to launch series of monthly food & wine events

This April, Francesco Mazzei is launching a new series of food and wine events at his Islington trattoria, Radici, with old friend and wine expert, Luca Dusi of Passione Vino.

The first event in the series of Mazzei and Dusi’s Food and Wine Tales will take place on 11 April, when the pair will offer a selection of the best recipes and most iconic wines from their respective regions of Italy.

Representing Calabria and southern Italy, Mazzei will offer the sun-kissed ingredients of his homeland in rustic dishes including Bucatini and aubergine timballo, whilst Dusi, from the Veneto region of northern Italy, will pair the dishes with wines such as Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Pierpaolo Antolini 2015.

Mazzei and Dusi have been friends for many years, and their passion and pride for the north and south of Italy will be displayed in a friendly rivalry filled with wonderful food and wine at Radici on 11 April.

Radici, which translates as ‘roots’, is an authentic Italian trattoria in Islington, the area of London Francesco has made his home. The restaurant reflects the southern Italian cuisine of Mazzei’s heritage, all served in a relaxed and friendly environment. Dusi founded Passione Vino in 2003, with the aim of discovering and promoting small, independent, Italian artisan winemakers.

Fifteen years on, Passione Vino remains dedicated to bringing the best Italian wines to London, through their shop and wine bar in Shoreditch, as well as special tastings and pairing events.

Food and Wine Tales at Radici launches on 11 April at 7pm, with tickets priced at £45pp, including sparkling wine and cicchetti on arrival, followed by a three-course meal with wine pairings. The event on 11 April will mark the first in a series of monthly food and wine events with Mazzei and Dusi.
