City Pub Co acquires Cardiff pub

The City Pub Company has acquired a Cardiff pub which will open later this year following a significant refurbishment.

The group, which currently has 34 pubs across Southern England, is making its first venture into Wales following the purchase of the Cayo Arms.

The Cayo Arms, located on Cathedral Road, close to the city centre and just by the cricket ground at The SSE Swalec, has been acquired by the rapidly growing pub group.

The group’s portfolio consists of predominantly freehold, managed pubs, located in London, cathedral cities or market towns, and it says aims to offer a wide range of high quality drinks and food tailored to each of its pubs' customers.

The company was co-founded by Clive Watson, David Bruce and John Roberts in 2011, with its first venue opening in March 2012.

By the end of that year the City Pub Company had six pubs, with sites in Bath, Cambridge and Oxford. The company now has 11 venues in London, seven in Cambridge, and two in each of Norwich, Brighton, Bath, Bristol and Winchester, in addition to sites in Exeter, Southampton and Hayling Island, near Portsmouth.
