Work To Start On £695m Manchester “airport City”


Chancellor George Osborne has unveiled plans for the development of a £649m ‘Airport City’ at Manchester Airport which could create 13,000 jobs..

Manchester Airports Group want to transform the 150-acre site to provide five-million square feet of new business space.

The detailed Masterplan shows the creation of two core Airport City zones. Work will take around 12-15 years to be completed and will finally deliver: 1.5 million sqft offices, 650,000 sqft advanced manufacturing, up to 100,000 sqft of retail and leisure, around 2,500 hotel bed and 1.4 million sqft logistics and warehousing.

Planning permission for the main site link road is expected to be submitted within the next few weeks and upon approval could see work start in spring at the site designated as one of the Government’s new Enterprise Zones, with completion within 12-15months.
