Canopy Market teams up with London Craft Beer Festival

Next month Canopy Market, the weekly independent market in the heart of King’s Cross, is teaming up with London Craft Beer Festival co-founders Dan Sylvester and Greg Wells to celebrate the best brewers from London and around the world.

From Friday 6 - Sunday 8 July, a dedicated market with free entry will host a line-up of some of Europe’s most exciting breweries under the cover of West Handyside Canopy’s roof. Whether keg, bottle or can, beer heads can take their pick of the freshest pours from a stellar roster of London’s best craft brewers.

Leading lights, Kernel Brewery and Anspach & Hobday will be on hand to represent Bermondsey’s famed beer mile; Gipsy Hill Brewing Co., with full-flavoured beers from further south of the river; Brick Brewery, with their flagship rich malt Peckham Rye Amber Ale and Braybrooke Beer Co. will be proving that it’s not all about American hops and IPAs with their German-style lagers.

Sylvester and Wells will also be hosting their own bar, pouring special collaborations and releases from cult international names like Gothenburg-based Dugges, Norwegian brewers Lervig, and independent Pressure Drop Brewery in Tottenham.

In true Canopy Market style, street food stalls including The Big Melt and Growlers will be dishing up grilled cheese toasties and Portuguese steak sandwiches, with crowds sipping to the sound of live music throughout the whole weekend.

Fabio Diu, a Director of Real Food Festival, who are behind Canopy Market, said, “London was once the world’s greatest brewing city, but it’s staggering to think that by 2000, Fuller, Smith & Turner was the only brewery still operating in London.

'Today the microbrewing revolution is in full swing with about 80 breweries, so we are really looking forward to partnering with the London Craft Beer Festival to bring some of the best of them to Canopy Market and celebrate the people who are making London a great beer city again.”

Wells added, “Interest in craft beer has, of course, sky-rocketed in recent years - it’s fantastic that so many people can now try beers brewed just down the road from where they live, and we’re excited to bring a line-up of incredible local and international names to Canopy Market.”
