Benito’s Hat secures £1m for three-year expansion plan

Casual Mexican dining chain Benito’s Hat has secured £1m from existing investors to fund a three-year expansion plan as it refines its concept.

The 10-year-old company, which currently operates eight outlets, has two new sites under negotiation, and is additionally eyeing franchise opportunities.

The new style of eatery will be easier to roll out in new locations, and will help the group strike franchise partnerships, introducing the brand to new stations and airports, and also working with international partners.

The most significant backer of the brand is Calculus Capital, which is also a backer of City lunch favourite Chop'd.
