Former Booker ambient head buyer becomes McColl’s Head of Buying

The new partnership with Morrisons is creating exciting opportunities for McColl’s. To enable Peter Miller, Trading Director, to focus on developing these opportunities the group has created a new role, Head of Buying, to support the trading team in their day-to-day business.

Following an extensive search, Greg Goodwin has been appointed and joined the team in October. Goodwin was previously Head of Buying for all ambient goods including Beers, Wines and Spirits at Booker Retail Partners. Prior to Booker Greg held senior buying roles with Nisa, Tesco and Co-op.

Goodwin will manage the day-to-day activities of the McColl’s trading team. He will be responsible for category business plans, joint business plans with our suppliers and our promotional programme, and in his first few months he will be conducting full category reviews. He will work alongside Peter Taylor who will become the main interface with Morrisons, leading the work on range, pricing, and Safeway.

Goodwin said, 'I’ve been impressed with the transformation McColl’s has been through in the last few years and I’m really looking forward to supporting Peter and the team. Through the new wholesale supply partnership and by working closely with branded suppliers the business has a great opportunity to deliver a best in class convenience offer to UK neighbourhoods.'
