Kate Nicholls to headline Arena Savoy lecture as industry prepares for Brexit

On the evening of Wednesday 20 March 2019, just nine days before Britain is due to the leave the EU, Kate Nicholls, CEO of UKHospitality, will headline the Arena Savoy Lecture: A view from the top, at The Savoy, London.

At what will be a crucial time for the hospitality industry, and indeed the country, Kate will look at the latest Brexit developments and lead an important debate on what it means for the UK’s £130bn hospitality sector. As we enter uncharted territory, she will also explain the role and goals of UKHospitality in the months ahead.

Kate will discuss the potential impact of Brexit on the industry, what UKHospitality is doing to represent and support businesses across all sectors and how the industry can work together during changing and challenging times.

The debate will open further, as Arena invites other industry leaders to take to the stage and give their views. Influential names from across the sectors will give their differing opinions and approaches to the unprecedented political and economic situation.

Topics to be discussed include the challenges and opportunities Brexit brings, running a successful business in times of change and uncertainty and how the industry can work together to make the best of Brexit.

“The hospitality sector and UK businesses in general are facing instability unprecedented in recent memory,” comments Kate Nicholls. “If we want to successfully meet the challenges and opportunities ahead, it is vital that we share our collective wisdom. I am honoured to speak at this year’s Arena Savoy Lecture to highlight the work UKHospitality is doing to support its members and the wider sector, and I am looking forward to hearing from other business leaders.”

Lorraine Wood, director of Arena, said, “We’re thrilled that Kate Nicholls is presenting the Arena Savoy Lecture. Given the enormity of Brexit and the uncertainty surrounding it, there really is no one better to address hospitality professionals at this time. We’re in uncharted and confusing territory and Kate’s insight will be valuable to everyone in the industry.

'Add to this the views and expertise of other industry leaders, and attendees will have plenty to take back to their own businesses about the challenges and opportunities ahead. Like it or not, Brexit will impact us all, so this really is an unmissable event for all hospitality professionals.”

As well as benefitting from the important address and debate, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with foodservice and hospitality colleagues and enjoy the five-star hospitality of one of London’s most iconic hotels, The Savoy, including a drinks reception and three-course dinner with wine.

Tickets cost £199+VAT for Arena members and £249+VAT for non-members. Tables of ten are also available to members and non-members at discounted rates.
