£40m Birmingham hotel gets green light

Birmingham City Council has approved plans from ES Suffolk to build a £40m four-star hotel on Gough Street.

The complex, which will create 110 jobs, will feature 330 beds - a mix of double, twin and accessible hotel rooms. The bar/restaurant will be operated by Dalata Hotels under its Maldron Hotel brand.

The new hotel, which will wrap around Christadelphian Hall (CGI pictured), will also include a business centre and large meeting room at ground floor.

While there won't be guest on-site parking, there will be a drop off zone outside the main entrance on Gough Street.

Cllr Peter Griffiths said, 'Birmingham is short of hotels and having one in this area will not only be helpful to future sports events but also for businesses.'
