Buzzworks named again in Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For

For the fourth consecutive year, one of Scotland’s largest hospitality groups - Buzzworks Holdings - has been named in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2019 list.

The accolade recognises Buzzworks as not only one of the best places to work within the Scottish hospitality industry, but one of the best companies to work for in the UK across all sectors.

Positioned number 73 on the 2019 list, Buzzworks has featured as the top Scottish hospitality company while being the eleventh best hospitality company across the UK as a whole.

To win a place on the 100 Best Companies list, businesses must employ at least 250 full-time employees and achieve one of the 100 highest Best Companies Index scores as voted for by their staff.

Once again, supporting personal growth for every employee through industry leading training and development programs, encouraging charitable activities during business hours and a hands-on senior leadership team with strong values were all highlighted as top scoring factors for Buzzworks.

Key benefits for staff at Buzzworks also contributed to the groups’ high index score for 2019, including pioneering work life balance initiatives such as decreasing the working week without decreasing pay and paying overtime for every hour worked or time in lieu.

Kenny Blair, Buzzworks Holdings MD, said: “Our staff are what define us and are integral in creating the foundations of a long term, successful hospitality business. That’s why we invest so highly in employee training and wellbeing.

“Our philosophy is simple, if we look after our staff then they will look after our customers. It’s humbling to see that our venue teams have scored us so highly to secure Buzzworks a place on the 100 Best Companies list for a fourth year running.”

On Friday 1 March, Buzzworks celebrated by participating in National Best Companies Day to mark its latest achievement and thank its 500-strong workforce, with the Buzzworks Bakehouse creating a celebration cake for each venue and individual cupcakes for all staff members to enjoy. There will also be a ‘Buzzfest’ outdoor extravaganza for all staff to enjoy in the summer.

Buzzworks manages a portfolio of eleven prestigious venues across Scotland, offering an aspirational dining and entertainment experience through four stylish brands – namely Scotts, House, Lido and the soon to launch Vic’s & The Vine in Prestwick.

In recent years the growing hospitality group has also launched its first venues outside of Ayrshire including The Coach House in Bridge of Weir in 2017, and Scotts South Queensferry at Port Edgar Marina in 2018.

Growth is set to continue with Buzzworks taking ownership of The Bridge Inn in Linlithgow late last year, which will open as part of the House collection in 2019, along with ongoing talks for venue numbers 13 and 14.
