Farmer J to open new bar concept at City restaurant

This May, Farmer J, known for bringing the best of the fields to the City, will launch a new bar in its King William Street home, The Shouk, on 1 May.

Inspired by the bustling metropolis of Tel Aviv and the lively bars of the city, Farmer J will welcome guests to settle in for the evening to enjoy a cocktail, or two.

As guests enter the glass-fronted restaurant, they will be guided to The Shouk by a row of low hanging dimly lit spherical pendant lights, lining the length of the bar.

With a focus on fresh ingredients, the menu features a Strawberry Mule, made with kombucha, vodka, strawberries, basil and ginger; Lady in Pink, rosé wine, elderflower and egg white; Harissa Bloody Mary, made with tomato juice, harissa, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, vodka and cherry; and Tahini Martini, a vegan cocktail of tahini, vodka and dates.

For gin lovers, Farmer J has a menu dedicated exclusively to gin, offering innovative twists on the gin and tonic, as well as a list of classic cocktails and lager, ale and kombucha on tap.

In the evenings, the lights will be dimmed and an evening soundtrack will set the scene for unwinding after a long day. Guests can take their pick from a selection of plates from the bar’s Graze menu. Inspired by Mediterranean flavours, the Graze menu’s dishes will include: grilled chorizo served with yoghurt and Chimichurri dip, squid crumbed with a z’atar crust and tahini sauce, and Farmer J’s signature polenta spiced sweet potatoes.

Farmer J Founder, Jonathan Recanati, said, “It’s time for Farmer J to plough the next field, so we’re looking forward to opening our first bar and inviting guests to enjoy long evenings with us over cocktails and tapas inspired plates.”

Ali Recanati added, “Farmer J is all about good vibes and The Shouk is bringing all of them. I recommend the Lady in Pink, it’s citrusy and floral- I’ve never tasted a cocktail like it!”
