Opening date given for Standard Int UK hotel launch


The US group, Standard International has today announced it will launch The Standard Hotel in London's Kings Cross on 11 July.

The hotel features 266 rooms in 42 unique styles ranging from Cosy Core rooms to terraced suites with outdoor bathtubs overlooking St Pancras station. The lobby lounge, with a carefully curated library pays homage to the building’s original use, with a Sounds studio hosting weekly live music and talks.

All-day restaurant, Isla from Executive Chef Adam Rawson will focus on coastal cuisine, light proteins and seasonal British produce accompanied by a selection of natural wines. The stylish, outside space will have a retractable awning, allowing guests to bask in the summer sun or providing welcome shade on hotter days.

The second phase of this hotel opening will take place in the late summer where a stand-alone bar, and a restaurant and bar from the highly acclaimed chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias. It will launch on the 10th and top floor and will be accessed via an external red lift (pictured).

The London opening is Standard International’s first outside the US, where it has six hotels. The group will open The Standard, Maldives later this year, with further openings planned for 2020.
