UK food delivery giant, Deliveroo has announced the appointment of Dan Winn as its Chief Technology Officer. He will lead Deliveroo’s work across engineering, data science, design and user research.
Winn (pictured) joined Deliveroo in October 2018 as VP of Engineering, and has played a central role in scaling its services through the rapid growth of the last year. He was previously Director of Engineering at Google in San Francisco. Prior to that he led engineering and operations for Amazon S3 in Amazon Web Services and worked on SQL Server at Microsoft.
Deliveroo’s commitment to innovation has secured interest from alumni of the world’s biggest tech giants from Google, Facebook, Amazon and Twitter.
The company is continuing to grow its London-based engineering team, creating more high-skilled jobs and building on London’s growing reputation as a tech hub. The new senior appointments will focus on supporting Deliveroo’s growth across its existing markets, including the UK and France, where it plans to significantly expand.
New senior hires at Deliveroo include:
> Vaughn Washington has joined Deliveroo as Director of Engineering for the Data Platform Group. He was previously at Facebook where he was an Engineering Manager.
> Brian Deen has joined Deliveroo as Engineering Advisor. He’s an experienced engineering leader with several senior leadership roles on Microsoft’s server products.
> Stuart Frisby has joined Deliveroo as Director of Design. Previously he held the role of Director of Design for Booking.com.
> Stephen Goldstein has joined Deliveroo as VP of Strategic Restaurant Partnerships. Prior to this he was Senior VP of Restaurant Brands International.
Winn’s appointment comes as Deliveroo looks to further boost its international growth ambitions by scaling its tech team in the US, allowing for a 24/7 engineering function to support Deliveroo’s operations. The company plans to hire hundreds of senior engineers in the UK and dozens of senior engineers in New York, growing New York team to 50 in 2020, with hires including product managers and designers.
The team will be leading integral projects such as the technology that powers Deliveroo Editions, Deliveroo’s hubs of delivery-only super kitchens, which launched back in 2017 and now plays host to over 200 kitchens around the globe.

Following its launch in 2013, Deliveroo has grown at a record rate and with its accelerated growth and success it has attracted significant international investment into the UK’s digital tech sector.
In 2017, Deliveroo acquired New York’s Maple, forming its existing US East Coast tech team, with several team members moving to London including Deliveroo’s now Chief Product Officer Akshay Navle.
The planned US expansion will give Deliveroo access to the very best talent from across the US who aren’t able to move to the UK.
