Co-op partners with Churchill Catering for new coffee shop

The Co-op has served up a new-look food store on Market Street in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, following a £1.7m investment which incorporates a brand new coffee shop, & Coffee, following a landmark new partnership with Churchill Catering, owned by Vertas Group.

& Coffee uses responsibly-sourced ingredients from local suppliers and serves up tailored food menus for breakfast and lunch. Holmfirth’s & Coffee also features a brand new hot deli providing healthy and nutritious meals thanks to a new partnership between the Co-op and KBK.

Book clubs, societies, sports clubs, and other local groups are also encouraged to use the cafe as a community hub outside of trading hours.

In addition to the new standalone coffee shop, the Co-op has new self-service tills, an improved in-store bakery and Paypoint services, alongside a focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas, food-to-go, award winning wines and essentials.

Derek Broadhurst, Co-op Regional Manager, said, “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in our Holmfirth store. It is our aim to establish our stores at the heart of local life and make a difference in our local communities.

“The store has great new look and range, as well as an incredibly exciting new coffee shop for customers to enjoy, which we hope will be a welcome addition to the local area.

Mark Pettigrew, Retail Support Centre Director at the Co-op, added, “This is a great day for the Co-op and Churchill Catering as we launch the North’s first & Coffee, right in the heart of West Yorkshire. We hope people living in and around Holmfirth will relish the opportunity to enjoy a range of locally sourced products and great quality drinks and snacks whilst they shop.”

Ian Surtees, Chief Executive Officer at Vertas Group, said “Churchill Catering has a long tradition of working with business partners that value customer service excellence, local suppliers and quality ingredients.

'I’ve met the team at Holmfirth and experienced their customer service skills first hand. I know they will create a fantastic cafe for the community and visitors to the town, with of course the best cup of coffee!”
