Deliveroo launches new click & collect service

Deliveroo has launched ‘Pickup’, its new click & collect service. The new feature will make it even easier for customers to access amazing meals when and where they want by allowing them to order food for collection.

Pickup will help people save time and money as they won’t have to wait in a queue for their order to be prepared or pay a delivery fee. This creates a faster option for customers to order food on Deliveroo in times of high demand, and will be particularly important for young professionals at lunchtime.

The service will give customers even more choice when ordering from their favourite restaurant or takeaway, whether they’re popping out of the office for lunch or picking up a meal after a night out. This will also mean people can order for collection from restaurants who may not do delivery.

This new service will benefit restaurants by opening up an additional revenue stream as they give people the option of ordering food-on-the-go, enabling restaurants to reach a new wave of customers and bring more people in-store.

Over 700 restaurants in 13 cities across the UK have already signed up to Pickup. Deliveroo launches with major names such as Byron, Pizza Express, Pizza Hut, TGI Friday’s, Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Coast to Coast and Giraffe restaurants offering the service.

Deliveroo expects the service to grow rapidly, anticipating over 10,000 restaurants to be offering the click & collect service within the next 12 months, allowing customers in all 200 towns and cities in which Deliveroo operates to access the service, ensuring they can order food for every occasion.

This comes as Deliveroo is expanding rapidly. The company expects to sign up another 10,000 restaurants to work with in the UK in the next 6 months, taking the total the company will work with across the UK to 30,000.

Patrick Gray from Byron said, “Pickup is great for Byron, it’s given us another avenue for our customers to reach us and we’re excited to see this launch in more sites across the UK.”

Ajay Lakhwani, VP New Businesses for Deliveroo, said, “Deliveroo’s new Pickup service will give customers even more opportunities to order amazing food from their favourite restaurants. Gone are the days of standing in a queue waiting to take-away your food. Pickup customers can collect their meal exactly when they want.

“This service opens up even more choice and selection for consumers, while providing a new revenue stream for restaurants. This is another move towards Deliveroo being the definitive food company, offering the widest selection of foods for all occasions.”
