Aussie restaurant & bar concept makes UK debut

Launching in time for the festive season, AEG and Crosstree Real Estate Partners announce the opening of popular Australian restaurant and bar concept, Butcher and the Farmer, at The O2.

Marking the international debut for the Antipodean casual dining concept, the opening complements the current mix of over 30 restaurants and bars under The O2’s world-famous roof.

Located on the lower level of ICON Outlet within The O2, Butcher and the Farmer neighbours New York’s vegan inspired brand, by CHLOE creating an enviable international offer within the mall.

Spanning 6,996 sq ft of space, the farm-to-table restaurant holds 266 covers across two levels including a bar and outdoor beer garden.

Designed by Callie Van Der Merwe of Design Partnerships, the brand’s latest venue has been built around the contemporary interpretation of a marketplace and community; the space captures the brand’s narrative of creating an honest raw menu from seasonal produce.

With a dedicated aim to being sustainable, all crockery, furniture and lights have been handmade made by artists and artisans.

Founded in 2015 in New South Wales, Australia, Butcher and the Farmer’s offering has grown to three separate Sydney venues. The brand’s new location at The O2 forms their fourth venue, offering a locally sourced and seasonally inspired menu of wholesome dishes that focuses on quality and clarity of taste.

Vanessa Charles, Operations Services Manager at the Butcher and the Farmer, said, “Following our success in Australia across our three Sydney restaurants, we have been actively seeking the ideal location to expand our Butcher and the Farmer concept overseas.

“The O2’s unique offer of entertainment, leisure and retail paired with an appealing demographic attracted us to the destination, and our opening is a key milestone in the successful growth of our business. We look forward to welcoming all visitors in the run up to Christmas, and introducing London to the Butcher and the Farmer concept.”

Speaking on behalf of AEG and Crosstree, Marion Dillon, Leasing Director for The O2 and ICON Outlet, added, “Our customers are increasingly seeking diverse food and beverage offerings from locations further afield such as South East Asia and Australia, and we are proud to be spearheading this trend by securing Butcher and the Farmer’s international debut.

“Sitting alongside our portfolio of leading food and beverage operators including US vegan brand by CHLOE as well as the upcoming opening of Asian hot pot specialist Hai Di Lao, and alongside the theatrical dining experience Mamma Mia! The Party; Butcher and the Farmer’s opening is a great new addition and will no doubt appeal to our millennial and generation z customer base.”
