Island Poké marks breakfast launch with 1,000 school meals donation

This month, Island Poké, the Hawaiian poké specialists, will be turning its hand to breakfast for the very first time at their Southbank restaurant.

The new menu features a selection breakfasts bowls including Oat My Goodness, cashew milk porridge, stewed apple, blueberries, crumble and a superfood special Açai bowl packed with açai, banana, spelt granola and peanut butter.

From 13-18 January, Island Poké will be donating a percentage of proceeds from their breakfast bowls to Magic Breakfast; each purchase will pay for one breakfast, funding up to 1,000 healthy meals for pupils across London and the UK.

Drawing on their passion for nutritious, healthy food made with sustainable ingredients, Island Poké will be starting the day with a line-up of breakfast house bowls from Monday to Saturday. Drawing on the tropical flavours of Hawaii, the Coco-Huna features coconut yoghurt, berry compote, mango, muesli and a dash of agave syrup, while the Mango Momona Loa bowl is filled with mango whip, fresh strawberries, banana slices and crumble.

Guests can also design their own bowl, picking from different bases such as porridge and yoghurt and topping them with fresh and stewed fruit, crumbles such as granola, super seeds and toasted coconut, and finally a choice of sauces including peanut butter, agave syrup and zingy yuzu-lemon curd.

Founder James Porter said, “We had a lot of fun coming up with our new breakfast bowls, and they’re the perfect start to the day: fresh, colourful and nutritious. We’re huge supporters of the work that Magic Breakfast does, so we’re launching our breakfast bowls by funding their great work across the UK.”

Magic Breakfast’s CEO, Alex Cunningham said, “We’re excited to be teaming up with Island Poké to help feed some of the 1.8 million school age children in the UK who are at risk of hunger in the morning. A healthy breakfast at school brings multiple benefits to pupils, including improved concentration, behaviour, attendance and attainment. Island Poke’s breakfast bowl initiative will make a reall difference to many children’s lives”.
