1751 Distillery Bar & Kitchen, London’s newest gin distillery has opened in London Bridge combining craft gin with modern British dining. The new concept takes over the former Jamie’s Italian Restaurant on More London Place.
The site developed and operated by TRG Concessions features an onsite gin distillery. The name 1751 relates to the gin act of the same year, created to curb excessive gin drinking during the 18th Century. The restaurant and bar is open all day for breakfast, lunch, evening dining and drinks. A bottomless brunch is available at weekends from 11am-4pm with a special brunch cocktail menu and bottomless brunch option from £20 per person.
The 5,834 Sq. ft space consists of a 191-cover restaurant with a dedicated bar area. A key feature of the restaurant is the 15-cover Private Dining Room with views straight into the distillery, which is available to hire.
The distillery features a 50 Litre copper pot still, Lady Catherine, which produces six house gins. The gins are featured heavily throughout the drinks range with a dedicated cocktail menu and range of house distilled gin and tonics. The house distilled gins are also served as ‘gin sliders’.
The Restaurant at 1751 features a seasonal menu with cuisine inspired by modern British dining with an international influence. Expect to see dishes like; crispy pork belly with apple cider gravy, corn-fed chicken & asparagus and pan-fried seabass. The lunch menu features a selection of sourdough pizzas, gourmet burgers and seasonal salads. There are a number of vegan options throughout the menus that include; miso tofu, black truffle gnocchi and a ‘full English’ breakfast in the morning.
The restaurant is open for breakfast every day with a dedicated weekend brunch menu featuring specials such as; smoked haddock with poached egg and capers and the Breakfast Martini which stars the house distilled Seville Orange Gin.
The bar at 1751 is all about creative mixology. The talented bar team produce a selection of theatrical cocktails which include the smoked boulevardier presented in a smoking cloche. Alongside the cocktails and gins the bar boasts an extensive wine selection of old and new vintages from regional producers and craft beers from local London brewers on tap and in the fridges.
An open kitchen, theatre cocktail bar and working distillery ensures guests always feel at the heart of the action at 1751.
