Premier Inn has partnered with Deliveroo to serve almost 9,000 slices of pizza free of charge to NHS and key workers staying in its London hotels.
Ten Premier Inn hotels in London that have remained open to accommodate key workers, including NHS staff, have been hosting weekly ‘Pizza Wednesdays’, with free pizza delivered by Deliveroo in conjunction with their restaurant partner Pizza Hut.
The partnership has been set up as part of owner Whitbread’s Force For Good sustainability programme.
This is part of a wider initiative led by Deliveroo who is making 500,000 free meals available to frontline NHS staff across the UK, working with their restaurant partners including Pizza Hut.
Since the partnership began 3 weeks ago, almost 9,000 slices of pizza in total have been enjoyed by key workers at the hotels.
The free pizza has been generously donated to key workers by Pizza Hut and thanks to donations from the general public. The feedback from the key workers has been overwhelmingly positive and after a tough day, is something to look forward to in the comfort of a hotel, so much so that the two businesses are looking to extend the offering to additional Premier Inn keyworker hotels across the UK.
The regular deliveries each week, are something that key workers have started to look forward to.
Team members at the 10 hotels set up a dedicated pizza station in the hotel reception so the key workers can collect their pizza in a safe environment and enjoy their food in the comfort of their room after a hard day’s work.
Agnieska Oboleviciene, Hotel Manager at Premier Inn London Docklands Excel, said: “We are really proud that we could be a force for good during the current crisis and as well as being able to provide a safe, clean and comfortable place for keyworkers to stay, we have also been able to partner with our friends at Deliveroo and Pizza Hut to offer our NHS and keyworker guests such an amazing token of appreciation for all their hard work.
“The feedback from guests has been so positive and gives them something else to look forward to after what is often a very tough day, and we are pleased we can put a smile on their faces.”
