Mãos to reopen in August

Mãos, the Michelin-starred restaurant situated at the heart of Blue Mountain School in Shoreditch, will reopen on Wednesday 19 August.

The restaurant which first opened in 2018 and initially focused solely around a communal dining table, has been re-imagined with long term collaborators 6a architects to allow Executive Chef Edoardo Pellicano and his team to further develop the menu and to give diners the opportunity to have a more personalised and intimate experience through individual tables.

Every evening Eddie and his team will now welcome up to a maximum of eight guests in the main dining room for a 14-course menu. For those intrepid gastronomes, there is now a place setting directly on the pass within the main dining room, giving solo diners a seat at the heart of the action.

The team at Mãos are also excited to unveil their new Chef’s Table, situated directly off of the kitchen in a private dining room.

The double-height room was designed for Blue Mountain School by Tyler Hays of BDDW and features handmade wall and floor tiles, a porcelain chandelier and solid walnut table for seating up to six guests. The Chef’s Table allows for full privacy and sole use of the room for the entire evening.

Leading the front of house is new General Manager Charlie Sims who joins having spent the last four years at Noma - where he worked in the first iteration of the restaurant as well as travelling to Tulum and Sydney for Noma residencies.

From August, Mãos will also launch a monthly membership programme, which aims to strengthen the relationship between restaurant and diner by offering membership benefits such as advance reservations, access to members only workshops and talks, exclusive lunch bookings as well as a monthly membership box.

The parcel is unlike the traditional “grocery box” and showcases the craftsmanship and expertise which Edoardo and his team employ through their dishes during every service.

The monthly delivery will include; house made provisions, condiments, kitchen essentials like tweezers as well as access to a monthly video demo from Eddie alongside seasonal surprises from the Mãos kitchen.

Founder James Brown said, “We are delighted to be reopening next month, we opened Mãos with the intention of redefining what it means to visit a restaurant, and we’ve used our time away to reconsider every element of the dining experience.

'We’ve worked with long time collaborators, 6a architects, to reimagine the dining room – whilst this reduces our capacity it enables the kitchen to present dishes that push technique and process to another level.

'We are also very excited to unveil our Mãos Membership, and look forward to welcoming our regulars and immersing them in our new and improved world.”
