Alliance Boots partners with Interserve in major FM contract

Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded a five-year, “total facilities management” contract with Alliance Boots, the international, pharmacy-led health and beauty group.

Interserve will support over 8,000 Alliance Boots staff across eight office locations throughout the UK including the corporate head office in London and Boots’ headquarters in Beeston, Nottingham – a site covering over 300 acres, including offices, warehouses, distribution centres and conference facilities.

The team will refocus facilities management service delivery around the needs of staff and visitors. This will achieve significant annual savings for Alliance Boots across its office estate, improve customer service, enhance the working environment, increase productivity and ensure that all services continually evolve to meet the client’s needs in a consistent manner.

Services to be provided include workspace management, catering and vending, postal and courier services, security and site protection, cleaning and window cleaning, building fabric maintenance, capital projects and gardens and grounds maintenance.

The existing relationship between the two companies, which began in 2006, was central to Alliance Boots’ decision to select Interserve as its support services partner. Interserve delivers retail cleaning across some 1,300 Boots retail stores in the UK and over 100 in Ireland.

Jim Townsend, Head of Procurement and Facilities Management at Alliance Boots, comments, “Delivering a common facilities management model across all our UK businesses and corporate offices supports our ambition to provide legendary customer care and feel-good moments for all of our visitors and colleagues. In addition, this new partnership supports Alliance Boots in generating significant synergies and efficiencies across our estate.”

Bruce Melizan, Interserve Executive Director, adds, “Our commitment to supporting Alliance Boots is about more than just delivering services: it is about shaping and enhancing the working environment for its staff to help achieve a ‘one-team’ culture across all office locations. The contract builds on our existing relationship and gives us further opportunity to deliver enhanced service levels at a lower cost.”
