Go ahead given for new Edinburgh hotel

Property development and investment company the Chris Stewart Group (CSG) has been given the green light to convert a row of townhouses in Edinburgh which date back to 1798 into a four-star hotel.

The company has been granted permission by the City of Edinburgh Council to convert the townhouses, at 1 to 5 Baxter Place, into a 239-bedroom hotel complete with a restaurant and bar open to the public.
In granting planning permission, the council acknowledged that the redevelopment “will enhance the character and appearance of the New Town conservation area and the Edinburgh World Heritage Site”.
