Langan’s Restaurants closes three sites

Langan’s Restaurants has closed three of its restaurants in an aim to focus more on its flagship business, Langan’s Brasserie.

Langan’s, which was founded by Peter Langan and Michael Caine, is thought to be on the verge of selling Langan’s Bistro and Oldin’s, which opened in 1967 and 1972 respectively. It is already rumoured that restaurant group Cote has bought the Oldin’s site. The Shepherd’s site, which was launched in 1993, is expected to be redeveloped as flats.

These decisions have been made following the departure of Richard Shepherd from the day-to-day running of the group and the appointment of Brian Clivaz, formerly managing director of the Arts Club, as chief executive. Shepherd, who joined the company in 1977 is however still chairman of the company.
