Legacy to operate four properties from Surya Hotels

Oxfordshire based Legacy Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement to operate four properties owned by East Anglia-based Surya Hotels.

With a greater presence across the UK now, the four hotels Legacy will now operate all have a four-AA-star rating and will now be re-branded under the Legacy banner. The 79-bedroom Legacy Duke’s Head Hotel in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, (pictured) is the largest of the properties followed by the 62-bedroom Legacy Mill Hotel in Sudbury, Suffolk, the 43-bedroom Legacy Great Hallingbury Hotel in Bishop’s Stortford, Essex, and the 30-bedroom Legacy Kingscliff Hotel in Holland-on-Sea, Essex.

Andy Townsend, chief executive of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said the company intends to further develop the hotels which have benefited from significant investment in recent years.

He added: “Surya Hotels is continuing its expansion plans with the acquisition of another two significant hotels in Surrey with a combined total of 183 bedrooms – our teams are preparing for the completion and handover which is scheduled to be before the end of May.”

Surya Hotels’ former commercial director Brian van Oosten has joined Legacy as regional operations director.

Legacy Hotels & Resorts currently operates 19 hotels with a combined value of £138m. Surya Hotels, based in Harwich, is part of the Surya Food Group.
