Burrito chain Tortilla is planning to expand its chain of 20 restaurants with up to 30 new sites over the next three years, having secured funding of £11.1m from Santander Corporate Banking.
The company, which is backed by Quilvest Private Equity, was founded seven years ago and is preparing to open its 21st outlet in Liverpool this week - the ninth opening in 5 months.
The restaurants serve up classic California-Mexican style Burritos and Tacos inspired by the Taquerias in the Mission District of San Francisco‚ the self-proclaimed burrito capital of the world.
The menu offers a range of authentic fillings and toppings such as chargrilled grilled chicken, carnitas – outdoor reared pork, slow cooked for hours until fall-apart tender - and barbacoa - Scottish farm-assured beef, seared and braised in mellow adobo then shredded. The focus is on fast, affordable, great quality food for eat in or take away.
