Delice de France urges operators to be vegan-ready for 2020

Bakery specialist, Delice de France is using the advent of Veganuary 2020 – where some 350,000 diners pledge to go vegan (up from 200k in 2019) – to challenge operators on their readiness to capitalise on the surge in interest around plant-based foods.

The supplier is unveiling a complete range of award-winning vegan bakery solutions, headlined by two new rich vegan square pies; a Fake & Ale pie is generously filled with ‘steak- style’ strips, baby onions and cooked in a vegan ale sauce, while a Saag Mangalore pie (pictured) combines cauliflower, spinach, chickpeas & lentils in a delicious and spicy aromatic sauce.

The innovative range also includes cakes, slices, breads and croissants, offering up peace of mind to food-to-go operators and arming them with the tools to cater for, and profit from, vegan diners through Veganuary and beyond.

Joining the two new square pies as star products within the range are Delice de France’s Great Taste Award-winning indulgent Lemon, Chia Seed & Pistachio and Chocolate Cookie Loaf Cakes, alongside a Vegan Sausage Roll.

Each was awarded a coveted Gold Star at the 2019 awards, with judges particularly impressed by Delice de France’s zero quality compromise approach – something that Paul Maxwell, Marketing Manager, Delice de France (and commited vegan) says sets the baker apart.

Maxwell said, “The statistics speak for themselves; vegans and vegetarians look set to make up a quarter of the British population in 2025, with flexitarians – those who will regulary but not exclusively choose meat free options – making up just under half of all UK consumers.

'It’s crucial therefore, that any viable plant-based options don’t represent a compromise. We’re confident that our vegan range, including these indulgent new pies, will be loved by everyone, no matter their dietary preference.

'I urge operators looking to capitalise on the ‘Veganuary Effect’ and carry on profiting into 2020, to get in touch today and try our class-leading range for themselves.”

For vegan bakery inspiration, Delice de France has created a dedicated brochure showcasing the baker’s most popular vegan options including a Demi Brioche Burger Style Bun – reassuringly, over 75% of Delice de France’s bread range is vegan.
