081 Pizzeria to open first perm eatery in SE London next month

London’s Neapolitan pizza legend, 081 Pizzeria is set to launch its first bricks and mortar site in Peckham on 24 February.

Specialising in authentic Neapolitan taste with a contemporary twist, the restaurant is part of the Founder’s vision to reimagine the legendary pizza culture of Naples in London.

081 Pizzeria is the masterful handiwork of Andrea Asciuti, a self-confessed pizza aficionado, born and raised in Naples. Andrea is also one of the founders behind Bravi Ragazzi, the acclaimed cult pizzeria in Streatham.

His mission is to challenge the perception of the typical Italian pizza scene in London with 081 Pizzeria’s fresh and bold approach to Neapolitan pizza and culture.

The concept first launched during the pandemic in 2021 at Peckham Levels before taking up residencies at The Colonel Fawcett, Camden and The Smugglers Tavern, Fitzrovia. Since then, it has fast become a favourite pizza spot in London, famous for its authentic airy and pillowy pizzas.

Following the success at its three locations, 081 Pizzeria is opening its first dine-in restaurant which will be an intimate, 20-cover space in the heart of Peckham. Diners can expect a selection of hand-crafted Neapolitan pizzas and delicious Napoli-inspired tapas dishes.

The restaurant will serve 081 Pizzeria’s signature pizzas which are made with 72-hour fermented dough and flour produced by a state-of-the-art technology milling process. Its menu will feature a broader selection of classics, specialty pizzas, Neapolitan street food and tapas.

Founder Andrea Asciuti shared, “It’s been a tough journey since setting up my own pizzeria; firstly, launching in the midst of a pandemic and then facing a number of challenges in the current economic climate which has meant that product margins have dropped, energy costs have gone up and staff have been difficult to retain.

“Despite all of this, I am incredibly excited about opening our first bricks and mortar site in the place where it all began in Peckham. Pizza is a real life passion for me and my team, so this is a huge milestone for us. We look forward to sharing the unique pizza culture from Naples with Londoners on a bigger scale.”
