Haven commits £9m for four new Wetherspoon pubs

Haven, the British holiday park operator, is preparing to nearly double its JD Wetherspoon pub portfolio following a £9 million investment.

In January 2024, the 830-site pub group formed an exclusive partnership with Haven, resulting in the opening of the franchised Five Stones pub at Primrose Valley, Yorkshire, in March.

Earlier this year, Haven invested an additional £6.7 million into its Wetherspoon pub portfolio, leading to the opening of the Red Rocks at Devon Cliffs in Devon; the Humber Stone at Cleethorpes Beach in Lincolnshire; the London Stone on the Kent Coast; and the Sir Thomas at Haggerston Castle in Northumberland.

Haven now plans to open four more on-site Wetherspoon pubs in spring 2026, increasing its total to nine. The new locations will include Cala Gran in Blackpool, Lakeland in Cumbria, Riviere Sands in Cornwall, and Hopton in Norfolk.

This forms part of Haven’s £9 million investment in its pubs and a broader £14 million commitment to upgrading its food and beverage outlets planned for this winter.

So far in 2025, the leisure operator has invested £140 million across its parks, and since partnering with JD Wetherspoon, it has served nearly 300,000 breakfasts and 700,000 pints across its five sites.

Haven’s Rockley Park in Poole is also set to open a new Burger King, taking the total number of Burger King outlets across its parks to 22.

Additional investments include a full refurbishment of the Show Bar at Marton Mere in Blackpool, along with a new supermarket and a £10 million water park at Haven Kent Coast.

Simon Palethorpe, chief executive at Haven, said: “Haven is all about giving our customers more of what they love – and our partnership with JD Wetherspoon does just that.”

Michael Barron, commercial director at JD Wetherspoon, added: “Our partnership with Haven continues to go from strength to strength. We are delighted that four new JD Wetherspoon pubs will open at Haven parks in 2026.

“We are confident that they will prove popular with Haven’s holidaymakers and owners.”

Haven owns and operates 39 holiday parks across England, Scotland and Wales.
In April, JD Wetherspoon announced its intention to expand to more than 1,000 sites through franchising with hotel partners.
