Asda has opened new Express stores in Bradford and Salford, marking a major milestone for the retailer as its convenience estate surpasses 500 locations.
The Bradford Express store is located in the former Hare and Hounds pub on Toller Lane, while the Salford site sits on Norton Street, close to Salford Central train station.
The retailer has rapidly expanded its convenience channel since launching it in 2022, opening 17 Express stores in 2025 alone.
Joseph Sutton, vice president of Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said: “We’re excited to kick off the year by opening two brand-new Asda Express stores, building on our fantastic momentum from 2025.
“In under five years, we’ve built a nationwide convenience estate of over 500 stores which is now outperforming the wider convenience market thanks to the combination of our great products and unbeatable value.”
The new stores support Asda’s strategy to strengthen its presence in high-footfall locations, residential neighbourhoods and transport hubs.
Each convenience store stocks more than 3,000 branded and own-label products, catering for everything from top-up shops to lunch on the go.
Following the openings, Asda plans to expand services at the stores, including bakery items and food-to-go offerings.
The retailer will also introduce on-demand delivery through Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo, along with electronic shelf-edge labels (ESLs) to streamline store operations.
Asda intends to keep opening Express stores, underlining its pledge to deliver prices lower than rival convenience outlets.
