Kensington Palace hosts exclusive breakfast event

Kensington Palace, one of the six palaces cared for by independent charity Historic Royal Palaces, welcomed over 50 event agents and planners for an exclusive breakfast viewing of the palace this week.

Organised in partnership with The Meetings Show, Excel London and London & Partners, the event included a delicious breakfast in The Orangery courtesy of caterers Ampersand who provided granola, pastries and smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels.

Following refreshments, guests were invited to attend a private tour of both the State Apartments and the Victoria Revealed exhibition led by a member of the palace’s Explainer team.

The tour concluded with a private curator talk with a chance to see some historic pieces from the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection including a safari hat from Edward VIII which he wore in the 1940s, 18th century silk court shoes and a coronet worn by Princess Patricia of Connaught at the coronation of Edward VII in 1901.

Alex Donnelly-Palmer, Events and Operations Manager at Kensington Palace, said, “We were delighted to welcome key agents and planners to enjoy breakfast and a private tour of Kensington Palace prior to attending The Meetings Show.

'The private tours are a fantastic activity to add into a corporate or private event programme offering a unique and exclusive insight into the palace. They also serve as an additional way for clients to see first-hand how they can play their part in the care and conservation of our collections by booking an event with us.”

Historic Royal Palaces is an independent charity that also looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. Historic Royal Palaces reinvests income raised from commercial activities including private and corporate events in conserving and maintaining the palaces, to keep them open for all to enjoy.
