Asda set to open nine new Express stores this week

Asda will open nine new Express convenience stores this week, marking another step in its plan to expand across high-traffic urban areas, residential neighbourhoods, and transport hubs. These are in locations where the retailer has historically had a smaller footprint.

Asda will unveil seven new Express stores across London, located in Tower Bridge, Greenwich, Limehouse Station, Harringay, Deptford, Whetstone, and the former Arsenal FC club shop at Finsbury Park Station.

Beyond the capital, two additional stores will open in Botley (Southampton) and Stoke.

Each Asda Express convenience store will offer more than 3,000 branded and own-label products.

Customers can also enjoy added convenience with in-store Costa Coffee machines, ATMs, Amazon collection and return services, and on-demand delivery options via Uber Eats, Just Eat, and Deliveroo.

All new locations will be fitted with electronic shelf edge labels (ESLs) for greater efficiency and accuracy in pricing.

Vice president Asda Express, foodservice and fuel Joseph Sutton said: “We’re thrilled to be opening nine new Express stores this week, including seven in London – an area where we have traditionally had less of a presence in convenience.

“These openings are a key part of our strategy to bring Asda’s unbeatable value to more urban areas and residential communities across the UK.

“We know customers have looked forward to these stores opening for a long time, and we’re delighted to welcome them in and offer outstanding value across their favourite products.”

Earlier this month, Asda opened a new Express store in Castleford, marking the start of the latest phase of its rollout programme.

The retailer plans to launch another 10 Express stores before the end of the year and has a robust pipeline of additional openings scheduled for 2026.
