Willow Tea Rooms Trust has bought over 20,000 sq ft of shop and office space next to one of its two tea rooms in Glasgow in order to create a Charles Rennie Mackintosh visitor and education centre.
The Trust partnered with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) for the £2.3m purchase, which is the umbrella body for voluntary organisations in Scotland.
Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1904, the Willow Tea Rooms in Sauchiehall Street, remains one of the city's major attractions for both local and overseas visitors.
It is hoped that the new centre will further boost tourism and aid the regeneration of the street.
