Pizza Hut owner considers sale later this year

Pizza Hut UK's owner, private equity group, Rutland Partners is looking at selling of the company later this year.

Since the private equity firm's purchase, Pizza Hut has embarked on a £60m refurbishment scheme which has aided its return to profitability.

Pizza Hut reported that its annual results showed profits after tax rose to £3.3m last year, from £1.7m in 2013.

The casual dining chain has now recorded two straight years of after-tax profits and, after closing a host of underperforming sites, is preparing to open its first new locations since 2011.

Pizza Hut currently operates 280 restaurants and hopes to open between four and five sites annually from next year.
