Hub Box opens in Plymouth

The Hub Group's award-winning Cornish burger chain, Hub Box is set to open the doors of its new Plymouth restaurant this week.

The firm has created 21 jobs at its new all-day 72-seater site, which is located on Old Town Street just outside Drakes Circus Shopping centre.

Hub Box will be open every day from 11am to 9pm, serving a popular tried and tested menu using locally sourced foods and beverages, as well as having a changing specials board.

The brand was recently named one of the top 100 eateries in the country by a leading national food magazine, and has become one of the South West's leading casual dining venues.

Hubbox, which started out in St Ives 13 years ago, is the brainchild of Richard Boon. The Hub Group operates eateries in Truro, Mevagissey and Exeter, and employs 120 staff.

The company buys its meat and burger buns from Cornish firms Warrens in Launceston and Baker Tom in Redruth and also buys all its coffee from Helston-based roasters Origin.

The company's flagship restaurant, the Hub on St Ives waterfront recently invested in a £12k electronic coffee machine to make the eatery the place to enjoy consistently good coffee.
