Britannia Hotels acquires Aviemore hotel

The Coylumbridge Hotel, located close to Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands, has been sold to Britannia Hotels, the UK’s largest private hotels group, through Christie & Co.

Situated in a substantial, 65 acre estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, the 175 bedroom Coylumbridge Hotel provides an ideal family resort, offering five dining establishments and two bars, an on site adventure play park, two pools and spa facilities.

The well established hotel also hosts a range of events, from weddings to conferences and corporate gatherings, with events spaces both indoors and outdoors.

Purchased by Britannia Hotels, the largest private hotel operator in the UK, the Coylumbridge Hotel has now become the group’s 61st hotel and marks Britannia’s fifth hotel in Scotland, which is becoming a major profit contributor to the group.

Jeremy Jones, Head of Brokerage – Hotels at Christie & Co, handled the sale and commented “The purchase of the Coylumbridge Hotel marks Britannia Hotels’ 7th acquisition in 2018 bringing the group total to approaching 12,000 guest bedrooms. We anticipate that further acquisitions will be announced by Britiannia Hotels during 2019.”
