Five-star London hotel welcomes new bar manager

London's The Kensington hotel has appointed Nuno Lage as Bar Manager for The K Bar.

Joining the South Kensington luxury drinking destination with over a decade of experience, Lage has previously worked in the bars of some of London’s most notable hotels, and will be unveiling a new concept and cocktail list at The K Bar.

Lage joins The Doyle Collection as Bar Manager at The K Bar following his position as Assistant Bar Manager at The Gong Bar in London’s Shangri-La Hotel. Lage was a key member of the team that developed and launched the bar’s celebrated ‘A Miscellany of Inventions’ menu which was shortlisted for Best Cocktail Menu in The World at Tales of The Cocktail 2018.

Having begun his career in his native Portugal working in the position of Head Bartender at Pacha Nightclub, Lage moved to London and took up the position of Bartender at the world-renowned Hotel Café Royal in 2013. He has since worked across London, taking up the role of Bar Supervisor at Great Northern Hotel, then working as Assistant Bars Manager at South Place Hotel and more recently held the position of Bar Manager for Camino restaurants.

Lage and his team will be creating an all new drinks list for The K Bar. Giving us a taste of the new concept, which will draw inspiration from unique wine regions.

Lage said, “The Kensington clearly has a strong wine philosophy with a dynamic list and fantastic producers. I wanted to find a way to allow for continuity of the wine focus into the K Bar concept.” He added: “I’m thrilled to be coming on board at The K Bar and to be able to work with the fantastic team here to create a new concept and cocktail list.”

Francesco Sardelli, General Manager for The Kensington hotel, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Nuno to the K Bar team. He will be a valuable asset and I’m excited to be working together to create our new concept and to take The K Bar in a new direction.”
