London Bridge Portuguese eatery to launch speakeasy with live jazz

The Green Room, Casa do Frango's hidden cocktail bar in the heart of London Bridge has officially launched.

To celebrate the unveiling of London Bridge's open secret, The Green Room will be launching monthly Jazz and Cocktail Nights by The Jake Goss Quartet. Kicking off on 22 May, guests are invited to a heady evening of Portuguese-inspired cocktails and Latin Jazz.

Found behind an unmarked door within the dining room at Casa do Frango - which opened last year, the secret speakeasy surprises visitors as they step out of the light and spacious restaurant and into a totally different world. Elegant midnight green walls accentuate the evening vibes, and the chic vintage furniture decor, stylish bar and intimate dusk lighting make it the perfect spot to settle in for a drink and some Petiscos.

These Portuguese small plates which are the soul of the country’s bar scene and definitely their own thing, not tapas! The Green Room’s petiscos menu features bites such as Bacalhau & Chickpea Fritters (£4) and Crispy Artichoke and Aioli (£3) to enjoy with a drink.

The cocktail list takes inspiration from across the Portuguese speaking world, including highlights such as Porto Madeira, Caipirão made with Licor Beirão, and the Casa White Port & Tonic, which is set to be the drink of Summer 2019. Alongside the drinks, a Portuguese focused wine list is available, including several exceptional Vinho Verdes and a selection of beers.

Until now, The Green Room has been a secret only discovered by those who stumble upon it. Word of mouth has made The Green Room the hidden gem of London Bridge’s bar scene, and so we’re pleased to start making details public, and to officially open for bookings from Tuesday to Saturday.

The jazz nights will take place on the third Wednesday of each month: 22 May, 19 June, and 24 July. Events are totally free, with cocktails and petiscos available to order from the bar. The Jake Goss Quartet is made up of four of London's best Jazz musicians, all internationally acclaimed and regular performers at Ronnie Scotts.
