ACS develops new resource to help vulnerable customers

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has developed a resource to help convenience retailers work with councils to provide support to the vulnerable customers living in their communities.

Retailers can fill in the pro forma with details about the products, services and support that they have available for their customers, particularly those who may be more vulnerable or who are self-isolating.

The form is available in both an interactive and printable format, which retailers can then send to their local councils so that information about the services that their store offers can be communicated to the local community. It can also be used as a poster to display at the store and use on social media.

ACS chief executive, James Lowman said, “Local shops play a vital role in the lives of the customers that they serve and they are particularly vital in times of disruption, never more so than with the role we’re playing in helping communities deal with the impact of COVID-19.

“By filling out this simple form retailers can make their local council, charities and community groups aware of the services that they have available so that these can be accessed by the people that need them the most.

'Councils are coordinating networks of volunteers to help vulnerable people, so it’s really important to let them know what you’re offering your community.”
