Boparan signs new franchise partner for Slim Chickens


Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG) has signed a second franchise partner as the company continues to accelerate the growth of its ‘better chicken’ brand, Slim Chickens.

BRG has entered into a franchise development agreement with KK Restaurants SW to open an initial five outlets in the south west of England. KK Restaurants is an established franchise operator with a proven track record in rolling out hospitality brands, including Pizza Hut Delivery and Costa Coffee, in the region. The first restaurant under the new agreement will open in Exeter next month.

The Exeter site will be the 10th Slim Chickens restaurant in the UK and comes hot on the heels of the brand’s largest opening to date at Manchester’s Trafford Centre, earlier this month.

Judd Williams, BRG’s Franchise Director, commented, “We are pleased to have secured a franchise partner as experienced as KK Restaurants SW. This supports our ambitious growth plans to roll-out the Slim Chickens brand across the UK.”

This is the second franchise agreement for Slim Chickens – the first was signed with JRK Restaurants in August to for at least five outlets on the south coast. Slim Chickens is the forerunner in the ‘better chicken’ market. The brand was founded by Tom Gordon and Greg Smart in 2003 and currently operates more than 100 restaurants in the US.
