BBPA monitors supply chain impact of Putin’s war on Ukraine

Emma McClarkin, Chief Executive of the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) has amde comment following her contribution in the APPG for the Food and Drink Supply Chain’s evidence session on the impact of the Ukraine conflict on the food supply chain.

McClarkin stated, “The atrocities sparked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine are front of mind for everyone in the sector and today we welcomed the chance to contribute to the APPG for the Food and Drink Supply Chain’s session on the impact of the conflict.

“We are closely monitoring the impact on brewers and pubs, which to date has been limited, but in some cases we are already seeing existing supply chain pressures such as energy and fuel pricing being exacerbated.

'Additionally, there is obviously concern over the potential longer-term consequences, particularly on cost and availability of key raw materials and food ingredients, and we are conscious that the extent of impacts will be linked with the longevity of the conflict.

McClarkin finished, 'We remain in constant dialogue with the Government to highlight the challenges faced by the sector and need for further support.”
