Greene King Pub Partners launches 9th Hive Pub after £320k transformation

Greene King Pub Partners has launched its ninth Hive Pub, the new franchise pub concept, The Globe in Chelmsford, Essex.

The site has been transformed into a Hive Pub following a £320k investment and will be run by new franchisees Melissa and Steve Field.

The Globe, which was previously a Greene King managed pub, has been transformed with a complete refresh throughout in line with the Hive Pubs brand and concept to create a modern look and feel with community at its heart.

The pub will offer an extensive range of food and drink in line with the Hive Pubs branded concept, including a menu of pub classics curated by the food team at Greene King and paired with tasty desserts.

As a Hive Pub, sport will be a key part of the offer at The Globe and so the pub has Sky Sports and BT Sport subscriptions to show all the major sporting events. It also has a pool table and dartboards and will host regular karaoke nights and live music.

Aimed at those with experience of running a pub, the Hive Pub franchise agreement gives licensees a ready to trade pub within a proven branded concept for just £5,000 ingoing cost. Franchisees get a minimum guaranteed income of £20,000 plus additional income based on performance such as share of turnover and other bonus opportunities.

Melissa Field, franchisee for The Globe, said, “Taking on a Hive Pub has been an incredible experience for us. Greene King have invested in and led the transformation of the pub. They sort out just about everything from back of house systems to stock. It means we can focus on running a great pub knowing we are guaranteed a franchise fee as well as share of turnover and bonus opportunities.”

Wayne Shurvinton, Managing Director for Greene King Pub Partners, said, “Following our £320,000 investment, The Globe has reopened as a Hive Pub. I’m excited to see how it prospers in the coming months following our transformation. It is our ninth Hive Pub and we have even more set to open very soon.”
