Antonio Carluccio celebrates 80th birthday at new York restaurant

A special party took place in York on Friday night ( 21 April) as celebrity chef Antonio Carluccio hosted a VIP event at the new city centre Carluccio’s restaurant to celebrate his 80th Birthday.

The Italian chef was joined by regional foodies, competition winners, writers and digital influencers, with Jonathan Tyler, The Sheriff of York and Dave Taylor, The Lord Mayor of York also among the guests.

The private party took place at Carluccio’s St Helen’s Square, previously the historic Terry’s Chocolate Shop and Tea Room, which opened last month.

Visitors were greeted at the door with a Chocolate Orange Negroni cocktail specially created for the new restaurant, paying homage to the building’s unique history. The prosecco flowed as guests were treated to live music from Impromptu Opera whilst they enjoyed fresh Italian antipasti, canapes and cocktails.

In honour of his birthday, the Carluccio’s team presented Antonio with a stunning chocolate cake, crafted by award winning bakery, The Bread Factory.

For those who missed out on the chance to meet the legendary chef yesterday evening, Antonio is hosting an open book singing of his latest book Vegetables at the restaurant this morning between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Visitors can get their copy of Vegetables personally signed by the great man himself and grab a quick selfie, whilst listening to Antonio share anecdotes from his 60 years of culinary adventures.
