Smashburger opens fourth UK site

The fast-growing Smashburger has launched its fourth UK site in the heart of Bath City Centre on Southgate Street. The new 150-cover restaurant is the brand's largest UK site to date.

The new eatery follows hot on the heels of the first UK site, which opened in Milton Keynes this month, followed shortly by Brighton, and more recently at the intu Eldon Square Shopping Centre in Newcastle.

Tim Lowther, who helped Shake Shack and Five Guys grow in Britain, is leading the expansion of Smashburger in the UK after the franchise rights were acquired by Domino’s Pizza franchisee, MSG group.

Smashburger is already a hit stateside. Launched in 2007, the firm now boasts over 370 locations within ten countries.

The brand's burger secret’s in the 'smash' - a unique method of cooking whereby 100% British Red Tractor Assured beef is hand-formed into a meatball and then smashed onto a hot buttered grill, searing in all the juices and flavour.

Developed by Smashburger Founder Tom Ryan in Denver USA, the menu offers the Classic Smash, BBQ Bacon Cheddar, Truffle Mushroom Swiss and Bacon Cheeseburger. The burgers are always made-to-order, never frozen, and all produce is sourced from reputable, local UK suppliers and designed to be cooked and ready to devour in less than six minutes.

Other options include grilled chicken breast sandwiches; garlic grilled Portobello cap mushroom vegetarian burger; freshly prepared salads, and sides like the garlic and rosemary Smash fries and crunchy veggie frites.

Part of Smashburger’s rich ethos is to develop a Local Smash dish for every location meaning that there are now over 370 unique recipes keeping locally produced food items at the core of the ever-expanding menu. The UK exclusive Stilton Stack burger marries the signature 'smash' patty with sweet chutney, fresh rocket, crispy haystack onions, Applewood smoked bacon and Stilton cheese, all piled high on a Smash bun.

The Bath Smashburger will offer a local Bath beer, Werrrd! 4.2% APA by Electric Bear Brewing Co, alongside a choice of red, white and rose wines and Prosecco. ?

There's also the Coca Cola Freestyle touch-screen soda fountains which contain over 100 different fizzy combinations including Coca Cola, Fanta, Dr. Pepper, Sprite and Powerade. There's also the creamy ‘handspun’ shake made with Häagen–Dazs ice cream in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, Oreo and chocolate Oreo flavours.
